Meet Rachel

Hi, I'm Rachel, the owner of Maisey Days Dog Grooming.

I have worked in education and training for over 25 years as a teacher and a manager, inspiring people to grow in confidence, develop new skills and achieve their personal and lifelong goals. The patience and understanding I have developed throughout my career, are skills I apply every day in my grooming practice.

The inspiration behind my journey into becoming a fully qualified dog groomer has always been Maisey, my German Shepherd hence our business name ‘Maisey Days’. When she came home as a puppy in 2016, her incredibly lively nature was a steep learning curve I hadn’t quite prepared for; life with her quickly became a whirlwind adventure! We navigated reactivity, had many moments of tears and frustration often taking one step forward and two steps back however, we slowly found our way over the years as our bond strengthened. I learned how patience, trust and a deeper understanding of canine behaviour could transform Maisey’s confidence; this inspired me in 2018 to retrain as a qualified dog groomer, where I could begin applying consentbased grooming techniques in my everyday practice.

Maisey is the heart and soul of everything I do in dog grooming and has taught me more about behaviour, patience, and trust than any textbook ever could. To this day, Maisey still remains my greatest teacher. I don’t just groom your dog, I observe their body language, behaviour and emotional wellbeing, and you’ll often see me chatting away to your dogs, laughing with them and giving them plenty of love, cuddles and rewards along the way.

Away from teaching or grooming, I am happiest when I’m outdoors. I love to travel, hike and get close to nature, and I especially love being near the water where I spend many evenings and weekends paddleboarding. Maisey is never far behind; she adores the beach, splashing in the water, chasing a ball or collecting stones. We both love our time together, often heading off on camping adventures whenever we can.
